A master of comedy and audience engagement, Liz Coin shines in her Edinburgh Fringe Show Lizzy Sunshine.

What is Lizzy Sunshine?

Lizzy and her brother were supposed to perform a double act. But when he fails to show up for his cue, Lizzy is left to take on the show solo. What follows is a funny, heartfelt, and surprisingly raw journey through performance, family, and what it means to keep smiling when the curtain comes down.

Liz Coin is a pocket rocket of energy, instantly lighting up the stage. She cleverly breaks the fourth wall early, warming up the audience and establishing that they are part of the show. Her background in stand-up comedy shines through; she’s quick, charming, and completely in control, creating a space where audience interaction feels natural and, importantly, always consensual. Many sections of the show were stupidly funny, which I loved!

Her relentless positivity beams throughout the show, but this isn’t just a glittery one-note performance. There’s a deeper current running under all bright yellow fabric. Without spoiling the twist, Lizzy Sunshine slowly reveals a more poignant layer that hits like a sucker punch, wrapped in showbiz razzle-dazzle and rose-tinted optimism.

Is Lizzy Sunshine Worth Seeing?

Absolutely. I really really enjoyed this show. It’s a clever, funny, and ultimately moving piece of solo theatre that blends classic musical theatre hits with emotional honesty. Liz Coin will make you laugh, but by the end, you might find yourself blinking back tears.

Because sometimes, you really do have to laugh… or else you’ll cry.

Liz mentions a charity at the end of her show that supports those affected by the theme, which you can reach out to through their website www.sfad.org.uk
