Slick, Simple, and Seriously Funny: BRITS ABROAD: BANNED at Pleasance Courtyard.

What is BRITS ABROAD: BANNED about?

In BRITS ABROAD: BANNED, British holidaymakers have finally taken it too far. Their collective bad behaviour has earned them a global ban from travelling, and now, their only option is a holiday in hell. Literally.

At first, I was skeptical. A one-hour sketch comedy based on such a straightforward premise? But the answer to the question, “Will it hold my attention?” is a firm yes ... and then some.

Thanks to a sharp, self-aware script that’s unafraid to poke fun at its own nation, the show stays consistently punchy and fast-paced, which is especially welcome for an early timeslot.

With slick direction, the cast (Chloe Young, Grace Church, Sam Rix, and Tim Karp) work together seamlessly. Their physicality and expression are spot-on, delivering rapid-fire recognisable characters and quick transitions with precision and energy.

The staging in the Baby Grand is cleverly used to immerse the audience, and the ensemble make the most of it, switching roles and settings with ease.

Is BRITS ABROAD: BANNED worth seeing?

Absolutely. Is it going to change the world? No. But will you laugh? A lot. BRITS ABROAD: BANNED is exactly the kind of silly, sharp, and satisfying hour that makes the Fringe so enjoyable. Perfect if you’re looking for something light-hearted, fast-moving, and genuinely funny.
