Although There's Something Seriously Wrong with Cyrus has plenty of heart, it lacks conflict to make it a Fringe Hit.
⭐⭐

In There's Something Seriously Wrong with Cyrus, an autobiographic tale from an Indian-Persian gay performer from the United States, that paints a picture of what his life was like.
This show struggles to find its footing without a clear conflict, coming across as a somewhat generic coming-out story within the LGBTQIA+ genre. Although there are glimpses within the family, it is brushed over, opting for more of a focus on his love of music, specifically Madonna and Taylor Swift. His boyfriend conflict is mostly based around him not accepting presents. The use of Taylor Swift tracks felt out of place and didn’t quite align with the tone or narrative of the piece.
While the performer is clearly enthusiastic and shows potential, the overall direction left me unsure of the show’s purpose. With tighter script and a stronger narrative arc, this could grow into something more impactful.
A promising actor, but this piece isn’t quite ready.
