Gaia Mondadori writes up a storm in her new show Centre of the Universe playing at Summerhall as part of the Edinburgh Fringe.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mary is your average, run of the mill teenager, with no real discernible qualities. Her aura points are high because her mother died, but she doesn't let her past define her. One day, a TikTok influencer arrives at her school, and Mary has the realization... She is going to be a star!
It's a captivating solo performance which feels like the next Fleabag or Baby Reindeer. It's raw, personal, and utterly compelling, if not slightly disturbing. At its core, is a magnetic performer (and writer Gaia Mondadori) who delivers a powerhouse performance, full of energy and charisma. She brings to life a deeply flawed, often unlikeable character with such charm and wit that we can't help but root for her. The script itself is fast paced, never letting the audience lose interest. Mondadori is directed well with original direction from Maddie London and Jemina Langdon.
Clever use of lighting and sound adds to the storytelling while pulling us further into her chaotic world. With its sharp writing and fearless delivery, this show has huge potential. It’s a thrilling ride that is darkly funny and emotionally charged. I am sure that we will see this again on future theatre circuits!
